Future Fund

At the 2025 AGM President Michael Rowan announced the establishment of a PHGC Future Fund.

We all love this Club for the friendships and good times we have experienced as members. This Future Fund is a vehicle to underwrite the Club’s ongoing existence.

The Fund sits alongside the PHGC Foundation. The two bodies are complementary. While the Foundation is there to fund directly identifiable projects backed by the Board, the Future Fund is designed to build over time into a non-degradable body of assets, a corpus if you like, that will provide funding to the Club to cushion any critical liquidity crises, but also major works.

We may face a serious liquidity crisis as we did in 2018/19 when we were in danger of losing the support of our bankers without fairly radical re-structuring; emergency funding may be needed because of an environmental spill, or any event not fully covered by insurance, or which becomes uninsurable; or a major Club project beyond the scope of the PHGC Foundation.

The Future Fund will will build mainly through bequests in wills, but also direct tax deductible donations, with no need to specify any particular project.

Three independent Guardians, myself as Chair, Bev Archer and Graeme Martin are on the Future Fund board, plus four ex-officio PHGC Board members, to ensure the Fund is accessed strictly in accordance with its charter.

Why give? To ensure our Club thrives and endures for current and future generations.

Details of the Fund, and how to give, either by bequest or tax-deductible donation, are in the brochure, see below.
