President’s Letter -Staff Christmas Fund 2023

This letter is an invitation to all Members to make a contribution to the Staff Christmas Fund to be distributed to staff in the first pay week of December.

In 2021 the Board agreed to create a “Staff Christmas Fund” and distribute proceeds to all staff not included in the traditional bonus payment arrangements.  The Fund comprised money generated by a small levy placed on Member and Corporate Visitor Fees, Corporate Cart Hire and non-Member F&B. In this way the bulk of the fund is generated by visitors and non-members.

The annual distribution of the fund is based on a share of the pool according to completed weeks of work of each qualifying member of staff. Employees of the Club are for the most part, are paid wages in accord with their prevailing awards; the Christmas fund is an important “top up”. The objective is a fund capable of a distribution to a full time employee of around $1,000. This is about the amount distributed last year. Payments from the fund are an expression of thanks and recognition by Members of the Club. It is important to say thanks, perhaps though it is more sincere to “give” thanks by making a contribution to the fund.

The easiest way to “give” thanks is to email (phgcoffice@pennanthillsgolfclub.com.au ) authorising the Club to debit your account with a donation, alternatively call in to see Kim in the Office and drop off some money or use your credit card. The amount you give is personal, for some it will be $25, for others it might be $50. Last year there were a number who contributed $100 or more.

I urge Members to give what they can in recognition of the excellent service we receive in our Club rooms, in the Professional Shop and in recognition of the hard work and efforts of our course team.
