Staff Christmas Fund – 2023

Each year I write around this time to invite you to contribute to the Staff Christmas Fund. This fund is distributed to all our good and valuable people who have worked hard and served us all over the past 12 months.

It is a team bonus concept that rewards all staff for the excellent service and assistance they have provided to Members. It includes those who work in the clubhouse over the counter as well as those in the kitchen, those in the professional shop, those in administration and the great work of the team we have maintaining our course.

Payment is made equally to all and adjusted only for the relative proportions of full and part-time employment. A full-time employee will receive payment of a full unit whereas a casual staff member will receive a proportion relative to their hours worked.

Contributions to the fund come from four sources, a $5.00 levy is added to visitor cart fees, a standard 2% levy is added to external function charges and at this time of the year we invite Members to make a direct contribution. Finally, any direct gratuities that might have been made to individuals during the year are redirected to the Christmas Fund.

Some Members are particularly generous and make a three-figure contribution, others reason at $1.00 a week and some a lesser amount. All donations are anonymous, please give what you can afford and what you regard is reasonable.

Our staff now number around 60 and work to award wages. This team bonus is paid in the first week of December and is received with appreciation by all. Last year we were able to make payment of $1,400 to full time employees, this year we think $1,500 is a reasonable target that illustrates that Members care about our staff just as our staff care about our Members.
